Welcome to the website of the Guildford Evening Decorative and Fine Arts Society
About Us
Guildford Evening DFAS is a friendly, lively and welcoming group, who come together 10 times a year primarily for illustrated lectures on the decorative and fine arts. Our aim is to promote the knowledge, appreciation and care of the arts through these lectures.
We do a range of other things linked our aim. Our study days give a chance to go deeper into a chosen subject. So do our visits, which are often linked to the lectures, or are to places suggested by our members. They range from tours of private houses to museums and art galleries. And we hold a variety of social events from Quiz evenings with suppers, to concerts and antiques evenings.
Our Society was founded in 1981 and has met every year since then on the second Wednesday of the month at Onslow Village Hall, Guildford. We are a branch of NADFAS (the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies), an organisation that encourages interest in and appreciation of the arts.
If you love or want to discover more about paintings, pottery, silverware, sculpture, architecture and the many topics within decorative and fine arts, then membership is for you As a member of our Society, your subscription will cover free entry to the lectures. And you will receive the high quality National journal every quarter, and access to nationally organised study days and foreign travel, including tours and cruises led by experts in their fields - and discounts for art galleries and much more!
Our currently planned lectures can be found on our Programme page, and our other activities are on our Visits & Events page.
Membership costs £40 per year or £70 for Joint Membership. You can also try out our lectures as a visitor by paying £10 at the door. See our How to Join page for further details.
